Trying to get our visas

Today Allen (my TA) and I traveled to the German visa-sorta-government-bureaucratic-office-thingy-place-with-lots-of-doors-and-fluorescent-lights-in-the-ceiling building.

Scary. Huge waiting rooms with lots of people in lines (sorta like the DMV)!  With Dave Limburg's handy email in my right hand, we traveled in search of Herr Hammermann in the dreaded room 1100.  After waiting for him to get off the phone we gingerly knocked and heard ...

"Ja."

Expecting the worst and hoping for the best, we entered and he stared at us ... like "what are you doing here" look.  Allen explained who we were, what we needed, how he helped Guilford last year, etc.  Nothing. Just the blank stare.

Finally, after the long awkward moments ... he took our stuff and told us to return next Tuesday. Not sure what will happen then, but it's on the calendar for next week.

Sorry, no pictures allowed in the scary building!

To answer Mer's posted question, Germany only allows us to be in the country for 90 days, then you need a visa to extend the stay. It's not like they'll come hunt for us, but it would be a problem when we try to leave from the airport!
