Endowed by Jakob Fugger the Rich, the Fuggeri stands as the world's first (and oldest) social community. Badly damaged during WW2, the Fuggeri has mostly been rebuilt to look old. In addition the insides all have modern septic, water, and electrical lines.
Residents here have to pay the traditional 0.88 cents per year, be Catholic, and promise to say three prayers for the souls of the Fuggers each day. If residents are late returning home, they are fined 0.50. Oh yea, this place is for the elderly and poor of Augsburg only!

Our day brightened considerably and the foliage was stunning ... grapes cover the walls of the Fuggeri.

Bye, bye Fuggeri and bye, bye to Augsburg!
