The 700+ acres of San Soucci ("without a care") are Frederick the Great's attempt to build a refuge from the world of the cities. Located outside Berlin in Potsdam, even on cloudy days these gardens, parks, and villas attract a crowd.
Our owl looks out on the massive gardens below the main palace ...

The Orangearium ... built for plants to stay indoors in the winter ... would have been nice to see, but not for 15 euros per person!
The magnificent New Palace, built to receive visiting heads of state after (another) Prussian victory in (another) war somewhere ...
The enchanting Chinese Teahouse complete with gilded figures around and on top of the structure. Tucked away in a little area of trees, I would imagine it is breathtaking on a sunny day!
Looking up from the gardens at the main residence at San Soucci, complete with "Hapsburg Yellow" to show that a royal lived in the palace.
So now we bid farewell to Berlin and its environs and move back into the time of Luther and the Reformation.
