The Topography of Terror exhibit was also right across the street from our hotel. As an aside, I would recommend that area to stay whenever you might find yourself in Berlin ... Potsdamer Platz is a very central location to lots of cool things!
This area was HQ to the Gestapo, the SS, and the Reich State Security Force. All of the buildings are gone, but they excavated some of the remaining basement rooms from the buildings and use that as a backdrop to tell the story of this area.

Here are the remains of the Gestapo garage where vans entered carrying political prisoners into the so-called "house prison." People like Dietrich Bonhoffer were brought here to be tortured for information.
Pictures and descriptions of the operations, the prisoners, and the Nazi regime were presented against the backdrop of the ruins.
These are the remains of the interrogation rooms used by the Gestapo.
