Today we traveled to the Erdinger Weissbier brewery in Erding, just outside Muenchen. This is the largest wheatbeer brewery in the world. They make more than 4 times the volume of beer that Hofbraeu produces!
The tour was really interesting, but the best part was that they fed us white sausages, pretzels, and all the beer we could drink for one hour!
I tried only one (weissbier is really filling) called the Scheeweiss Winterbier. Awesome.
Here is the start of the tour with our guide in the eating area.
The giant globe made of Erdinger bottle caps. They let us take some for free ... free, shiny? All over that!!
The giant computer-controlled warehouse where the beer ages. Whitebeer is a little different type of beer, as it has to age in the bottle for 4-6 weeks before shipping. The computer figures out when the batch is ready and a automated "thing" removes each pallet for shipment when it is ready. Kinda like "Rise of the Machines!"
