Rothenburg ob den Tauber

What an amazing daytrip!  We visited the city that "fell asleep after the end of the Thirty Years War and didn't wake up until the 20th century."

How true.  It is like a Middle-Ages dream.  It is out of the way and took over 3 hours and three trains to get there ... we ARE planning to go back and stay overnight.  It's that good!

When we got off the train, we were hit with heavy rains and high gusts of wind.  As we tried to escape the rain, we figured we'd have our big meal of the day at this place.

What a good choice!  We all had amazing food ... the potato cream/garlic soup was like drinking garlic bread.  Just amazing!

Then we came out to blue skies, but gusty, cold winds.  This is the Red Gate to the city.  These are the original walls and towers.

We walked the walls as far as the "gallows gate" then came back down to the ground level.  Can you guess what happened at the gallows gate?

More later, its late here!
