We arrived in Dresden in the early afternoon, then quickly dropped off our stuff at the hotel next to the Hauptbahnhof. Back to Hbf and we hopped an S-bahn to a nearby city called Meissen. I sorta screwed this up, as Debbie wanted to see a different castle, but I thought it was the one in Meissen when in fact it was in another city. Sorry Debs! :)
However, Meissen turned out to be a very cool, very old, very quaint German city ... with a cool cathedral overlooking the Elbe River.
Here's the model of the dom:

This church played a huge role in the Protestant Reformation, even though Luther never made it here. There was a museum at the end of the church tour outlining some of the tenants of the Reformation: faith alone, grace alone, scripture alone!
Here's the full-on front of the cathedral. Here's what's really cool ... we are coming home with on original tile from the cathedral's roof ... handmade in the 1600s!
Here's the gateway that led up to the church ... also impressive in its own right.

Those castles are beautiful. And we just celebrated Reformation Day!! You are walking on the same roads as many of the reformers. Cool.
oh you just wait until we post the pictures from Lutherstadt Wittenberg!
