Dresden ... a cross-section of history. A city obliterated in 1945 by Allied bombs and rebuilt from the rubble by East Germany. Now empowered with a yearly flow of euros from the "west," it continues to grow and expand as it tries to shake off the remnants of the oppressive communist state that long enslaved this fine city.
Buildings that awe and statues that commemorate abound in this city. From the great Reformer Dr Martin Luther,
... to Frederick Augustus who sired over 300 illegitimate children!Looking back across the Elbe River on a cloudy day to see the wonderful Catholic Dom ...
But the white interior seemed ablaze with light ... Frederick Augustus' heart is buried in this church. His other parts are interred in Poland. Odd. Don't ask.
Time for bed. Goodnight America.
