Dresden, Part 2

Here is the Dresden Frauenkirche.  Again, almost totally destroyed in WW2 and rebuilt in later years.  The rebuilding of the dome itself was a monumental feat ... it makes you wonder how the people in the "old days" could come up with so many marvels of engineering!  Also makes one give pause to the idea that "modern" people are so much smarter than those of yesteryear ...

A cloudy day ... that can't be helped.

The inside was so airy and light ... it gave a feeling of being transported up into ... maybe glory! Lots of people in this church ... we think there was a backlog due to a wedding that finished as we were arriving.  I almost had to thump another German who ran over Kate.  More about German rudeness later ... Deb and I are reaching a critical mass over dealing with rude Germans ... but I digress.

The alter at the front of the church.  Somewhat odd to see Protestant churches with these large alters at the front.  Hopefully with the people down in the front you get somewhat of a frame of reference as to the size of this alter.
