The white city ...






No, it's not Minias Tirith from the Lord of the Rings.

I have to admit, it is a pretty impressive structure.  It is a shame that the King never got to see the project to completion.  In fact, he only lived here 102 days before being declared insane and taken to a small schloss in the Starnberger See near Muenchen.  We saw the place where he drowned and posted that a while ago.  Since the King was an expert swimmer and was found drowned (with his psychologist) in shallow water, a lot of suspicion surrounds his demise.

The walls of the castle are made of limestone hewn from the quarry by the lakes near the castle.  The majority of the rooms in the castle are unfinished and some actually have no floors.  Again, no pictures in the castle.  Sorry.

Oh man I wanted to see the floorless room! That castle is magestic.
