The City is changing!

With only 2 days until Oktoberfest (or Wiese'n as the locals call it), the city is beginning to fill up.  One can see more traffic in the main train station, on the streets, and on the schnellbahnnetz (public train system).

Yesterday I went with two students down to the Hofbrau tent to check on our class reservations for next Monday afternoon and I couldn't believe the transformation of the area!  We were last there about 4 weeks ago and it looks TOTALLY different. I went into the giant HB tent and was staggered by the size ... they are not tents like we think tents in America, they are massive "houses" made of wood, with walls, floors, rooms, balconies, etc! The outside streets of the festival area are lined with booths, games, vending areas, etc. Think a traveling carnival on steroids ... or maybe on crack!

I didn't have my camera with me, so I don't have any pics, but more will follow over the next few weeks.  As a treat, I have included a pic of my girls in their traditional Bavarian dirndls.
