...or in english, "they aren't from around here!!!". that was our theme for today. and that is mainly my fault. i thought that since it was to be a beautiful sunshiny kinda day, we should try to get our christmas family photo out of the way. after all, winter starts next week here. well, not really, but. so we donned the outfits that you see below (can you say "crazy americans" ?) and off we went. first to the olympic stadium...home of the 1972 olympics (near and dear to me because i was just a few days old during those games...).
i can't even begin to tell you how many people just stared at us. it was like, um, everyone. we got smiles, laughs and such. but we knew that would happen and we had a lot of fun with it. in the u-bahn station (subway station) there were a group of about 10 asian tourists who were trying to "sneak" pictures of us. it was soooo funny. so i said to bryan, "heck, why don't we just smile and pose for them?" and so we did. and all ten of 'em pulled out their cameras, camcorders and whatever else and took pictures of us. of course this was during rush hour...tons of people and we felt quite famous. maybe we will be on youtube!
we also took b&k to the playground and we had a lot of fun there. that's where we took the pictures posted today. we got there after lunch and we were the only ones there. and we wondered where all the german kids were. about 30 minutes later the park was packed. they all came at the same time. it was like someone said "okay, you may go play now". a girl came up to brooke and started rattling off german to her...scared the pants off her. so we tried to tell her what to say. we talked her into going back to the girl and asking her what her name was in german. brooke was very brave and actually asked the girl her name. but of course she started rattling german again. so much for the making of life long friends. school should be very, very interesting.
we also attempted to find schloss nymphenberg (a castle!!!), but got lost due to a change in the tram schedule (there is construction in germany too. who knew?) . we finally figured out what to do and it started to pour! oh well...rain delay until wednesday...i guess.
so we went home...made pizza ala limburg (thanks to dave and laura, last year's "bryan & debbie" in munich who showed us what to get). it was yummy.
so that's another day in the life of us...
