Today we pretty much started the day with no plans. Except cleaning. Debbie decided to vacuum ... she pulled out Ol' Sparky (contest announcement: come up with a nameand the best name gets something from Munich) and promptly proceed to blow the fuses in the apartment at least 10 times. She was NOT happy. We just kept resetting the strange German fuses until we finished cleaning.
Some good news, the faxes and prayers worked! We are not a threat to the commerce of Deutschland and our packages just transited from Leipzig this morning and we have them tracked online to Munich! YAY!
OK, back to the day ... we finally got around to going to the Deutsche Bahn center to buy our BahnCards and they were closed. Then I went to Deutsche Bank and they were closed. Something was wrong here ... lots of stores were closed. We eventually found out that today is Assumption Day, the day Mary ascended into heaven. There you have it. So, in order to prepare to be good and gracious host to the Walls (our super-cool guests during Oktoberfest) we took a trip to see the area and how to get in and out via train. Here are some pics of the site under construction. Wait until the place REALLY gets decked out!
From there we went to the city center (Marienplatz) to see what was going on and we ran into piles of drunks taking the trains to the FC Bayern/Hamburg Bundesliga fussball (soccer) game. Brooke kept asking why these people were so loud and noisy.
We made it back home and are now getting ready for dinner. If anyone has a webcam and wants to Skype, let me know via email ... I'd love to talk!
Thanks, Bryan & Deb
