In Germany, it's great to have...

Kaffeetrinken!  A time in the afternoon for taking a break from the day, visiting a local sweet shop or bakeri, and chatting with friends.  OK, so Deb and I don't chat with friends, we try to keep B&K from doing something nutty ... or from fighting.

Today we pretty much trekked around the east side of the Schwabing area towards the English Gardens.  In the morning I visted the Deutsche Bundesbahn (railroad) "mobility center" to purchase our group tickets for orientation and all of the Isar Karten for the students in September.  I am happy to report that I feel comfortable chatting in German wherever we end up ... or when we get lost!

We had a little adventure today when Kate bounced her superball on the sidewalk and it promptly went down a little drain ... out of reach.  Mommy suggested that we return later with gum and a stick.  After running to the Post and to get Euros for the Guilford College cell phone to actually work (THANKS Dave for leaving me with 7 cents on the phone!), we found some gumballs in a dispenser (Debbie reports that they tasted terrible) and Daddy rescued the superball.

Things are great here in Munich; we may not want to come home.  No, just kidding.  It is really cool to wander around and look at the people enjoying bier on the sidewalk cafes and engaging in conversation.  I think this is something that Americans can learn from.  Another thing is biking.  I love it that Germans can bike pretty much everywhere!  Frau Volz (host family coordinator) said she hopes to get us some bikes to use next week.

Hey, just as an aside, please leave us some comments if you read these blogs.  If you choose not to leave an email address, at least leave your name in the comment, so we know who is writing!  Thanks!  Your German Study Abroad Team!

Brendleys,
Doing a great job with journal. We'll probably know more about your life when you are six time zones away than in the same one.
Can you post video? Maybe you can get a copy from one of those Asian tourists as the videoed you, eh?
Love you guys.

The blog is great guys, thanks for keeping us updated! And thanks for the shout-out! We are super excited to see you. Brian keeps sending me emails of things he finds during his lunch break that would be cool to visit. (He is cracking me up with his enthusiasm!). Only about 6 weeks til we see you! Hooray. Love ya,
Kim & Brian W.
